Rise Up: DarkVoid Review

The game takes place before World War 2 and you play as a character called William Augustus Grey. He is teleported to a different world while flying over the Bermuda Triangle. This place is known as the Void. While in the Void you will encounter an alien and a human race. You will later on join the human race who a fighting a war against the aliens. The aliens are fighting to try and get back to Earth. The Void is the middle between the aliens world and Earth.

The game play of the game is very unique because you are able to use a new vertical cover system which is later on discovered in the game as you acquire the jet pack. When you get the jet pack and you are able to fly around you can hijack UFO’s. This allows you to take control of the enemies and use there own fire power against them. When you are collecting your weapons there are stations put around the map in which you can upgrade your weapons and jet pack. To upgrade this you will need to collect what is known as Tech Points. You can get these either by killing aliens, or finding them while your flying around the area. A neat little upgrade for your jet pack is rockets. This cost 15,000 Tech Points and is the highest upgrade your jet pack can have. Some upgrades for weapons are a longer clip, scope, bullet penetration, etc.

While your facing aliens there are different types which have there own special abilities. One of the aliens is known as the Knight. It’s a big floating alien that has a big eye which it shoots it’s lasers from. It also has a long pointed tail so when you fly close to it, it will grab you and you will have to move the left analog stick to escape. In my opinion this game offered a new experience for me in which using the vertical game play. I also thought that they could of enhanced the graphics a little bit for the facial features of the humans, but non the less the graphics were good.

For the storyline I thought that they took to long to get to the action part. While you do play on the ground you probably will spend most of your time flying. Because who are we kidding we love to fly in games when we get the opportunity. While you are overwhelmed with UFO’s trying to kill you, in the later levels, you will be able to man your guys AA Gun which shows to be handy when you can’t fend of the horde load of enemies. While the game shows to be a little challenging throughout the levels it’s not until the final level were you have to fend off a huge creature does it show to get a little harder. But none the less the game is fun and if I had to rate it I would give it a 8/10
