Now I really know why Eiji Aonuma was so enthusiastic about this game. I can see my self playing this game for many hours together with my friends. And even tough this game may not be visually stunning it is very fun to play. This is a Zelda spin off done right!

Hyrule Warriors…Goodness did this game take me by surprise, even though I did play it at several events before doing this review. During these events I was not really impressed by the game and it made me feel like I was just playing another Dynasty warriors.

Boy was I wrong.

Hyrule warriors, developed by Omega Force, is remotely like Dynasty warriors but you can really tell Nintendo put their stamp on it.

You are playing in the Zelda universe in the land of Hyrule. Once again an evil is about to threaten the peaceful world of Hyrule and every one puts their faith in one remarkable young man. The young warrior sets out with Impa and Princes Zelda to fight the evil, when things take a turn for the worse.

As you try to figure out where it all went wrong, you scale the massive world of Hyrule. From the Hyrule fields to Death Mountain, Skyloft and many more wonderful locations of the Zelda universe. But without any powers or friends, your quest does seems very futile. So you find yourself looking around for treasure chests.

But power ups alone simply are not enough. The vast amount of enemies can sometimes be overwhelming. Not only you will encounter loads of foot soldiers, that become increasingly powerful, you will encounter a lot more. From knights to Captains to Lizards and much more. I often found myself surprised and lost in a battle thinking that I couldn’t handle it. But you are not alone. Not only can you find allies to help you out you can also ask help from a friend. Together you can battle on the field one using the Nintendo Wii U Pad and the other the television screen. This does make some situations harder but if you communicate well with your friend it will become a lot more fun and interactive. Therefore I do encourage you to play this game along with a friend.

The controls are easy and sometimes a bit repetitive, common for the Hack and Slash genre. But you really want to learn and know your combos as every combo has a specific power to handle a situation. From pushing enemies back or throwing them in the air preparing them for your next attack, to pierce them with a final blow and critically hurting them. And with the big guys it sometimes reveals their weak spots. Making them vulnerable for attack.

If you find yourself against an overpowered beast of destruction, you can go back to other battle fields in search of weapon upgrades. You can also salvage materials that will help you unlock powers, you never knew you had. Making that one beast an excellent experience to battle and conquer. But you do not always fight as the hero Link. You will fight as Impa and many more friends. Now now, I will not name them all here but you do see them in the pictures and trailers that I have posted here along in this article.

There is so much more to this game than you might think. There are 100 Golden Skulltulas for you to find hidden throughe out the battles. Unlocking art. But there are also other game modes. The Legend mode will have you run through the story. Free mode lets you play all the area’s you have unlocked in the Legend mode. Adventure mode lets you play the classic Zelda with a twist! Its a network connected game where you can acquire heart containers and powerful new weapons. Best of all you get to unlock new warriors! Your goal is to get across new areas to eventually defeat the dark ruler. While you move across the map you will have a battle on every map square. Everything is tied to your battle rank. The higher your rank the more options you get! To give you an idea in the first square you have to defeat 300 enemies in 10 minutes. Be sure not to get distracted by other things that keep you from your goal. And this game will most definitely try to distract you.
