Sony announced during its pre-Tokyo Game Show Conference today that it will cut the retail price of the Playstation 4 from ¥39,980 to ¥34,980. The move, going into affect October first, will put the PS4’s retail price at about €258, or $292 in the country of the rising sun. This is significantly cheaper than what the system retails for in the west.

With the PS4’s second anniversary coming up, we expect the price cut, alongside a new promotional campaign to come our way in the not too distant future. So if you’re thinking of picking one up, then you might want to consider waiting a little while longer.
