Golden Sun was one of the games of my childhood, featuring one of the strongest formulae of turn-based RPGs. The sequel, years later, featured a link between the first and second game, where the player can transfer his own trained Golden Sun team into the sequel. It was brilliant, and I screamed for more.

Last year at E3 2009, Nintendo presented a new Golden Sun title, most probably on the Nintendo DS. It was a massively positive peak of the presentation, and I had a big smile on my face. Finally!

This year Nintendo has a definite title for the upcoming game, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. It will be on the DS and the stylus will play a big role for the gameplay.

Killzone 3 first impressions

It is time to escape the nuclear aftermath of pyrrhus city and attemt to leave the planet of helghan all together.

the same as in killzone 2 you will be plasing as: ISA Sergeant Tomas ‘Sev’ Sevchenko fighting against the helghast on their own accord but this time it’s not about winning the war, this time it’s just a matter of pure survival.

as a result the games feels way more varied, as you are running from one encounter to another, while the new enemy types keep you constantly aware and won’t give you even a second of rest to think the whole thing through again. One of the new enemy types is: the jetpack trooper a helghast soldier who flies through the sky while letting it rain machine gun bullets.
These aerial encountes add a new dimension to the normal battles on the ground, Especially when you get the jetpack yourself! it is pretty much a exaggerated jump: you fly into the air and can use two forward thrusts before you need to land down again. not only does this open up lots of battle opportunities like: gaining a vertical advantage over your enemies or dropping in behind on a enemy. but ofcourse lots of gameplay like having to go that little spot you just cant reach. Sony 3D dodging rocks and mud

A few days ago, NiSuTe Europe was invited to the Sony 3D casual Friday. We went there along with several other Dutch game press groups. We were welcomed by Jeroen Rovers, and then went in to the press room and got a welcoming drink. Everyone from the press was highly skeptical; we  all knew what the history of 3D technology is; we have all seen our fair share of 3D glasses. We all took our seats and Bart Vader took the stage.

Today San Diego-based GUNNAR Optiks, maker of gaming glasses, announced a new line of 3D glasses for gaming.

“While typical 3D eyewear is stamped from a flat sheet of plastic, GUNNAR lenses are shaped, formed and cut to provide distortion free optics,” said Joe Croft, co-founder of GUNNAR and EVP of Research Design & Development. “For the amount of technology and effort that goes into the creation and delivery of the content, it is a shame that the weakest link in any 3D system today is the eyewear used to view the final product. We are proud to announce our success in creating lenses of the highest optical quality to give a premium visual experience.”

These high-end glasses will work with standard 3D televisions and monitors, says GUNNAR… but how manny “standart” 3D televisions do you know?

3D gaming: probably doomed

Have you ever seen people wearing silly-looking glasses while watching a movie? Ever wondered what the deal was with those? Well, even if you haven’t, I’ll explain it anyway. They are watching what some people call a 3D movie. It works simply by letting one eye see the image from one camera angle, and the other eye sees the same scene from a slightly offset camera angle, creating a stereo image for your eyes. Through this process, the viewer is given the illusion that he sees the movie in 3D. Read more
