A new PS3 television ad had surfaced this week, and quite frankly, it’s hilarious. I’ve been watching the new PS3 ads and Sony seems to be doing a good job marketing the PS3 in the US, but us Europeans? Not so much. I can’t recall seeing any PS3 ads over here in the past 6 months at all. Nevertheless, take a look at this one, it’s amusing. I certainly hope we’ll see these in europe at some point.

If you’re a Gran Turismo fanatic, then it’s almost impossible that you’re not aware of this weeks’ news that a GT5 box made an appearance on Mercedes-Benz’s website in an introduction video of the new Mercedes SLS AMG. What’s interesting about this, is the fact that the box contains not one, but three blu-ray discs, leaving gamers wondering what could be on them. So I figured I’d make an educated guess. Wishful thinking, maybe. But interesting nonetheless! Read more

Announced just now at the second — that’s right, the second — Sony press conference at Tokyo Game Show, Gran Turismo 5 will be coming to Japan in March 2010. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi announced the launch window without specifying any other regions. We’ll pester Sony and Polyphony Digital all this week for more info. Promise.

The rumor mill: PS3 Slim at GamesCom

According to a French retailer, Sony will be showing the rumored PS3 Slim at the Cologne GamesCom. The system is expected to retail for €299.

The retailer, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims to have been informed about the new Sony system, which will replace the current PS3 model, in early august (read: in the past couple of weeks). The new PS3 model is said to come in two flavors; one with a 80, and one with a 120GB hard drive.

Talks about a smaller, cheaper Playstation 3 have been spreading across the internet like  wildfire in the past couple of months, but Sony has been denying the existence of such a device so far. With a change of the Xbox 360 lineup coming, however, it’s clear that Sony needs to make a move and gain some market-share or it could face some major challenges in keeping publishers and developers interested in the platform. Putting a PS3 Slim out there with a lower price tag could finally reel in those consumers who have been waiting for a price drop since.. well, forever.

The rumor mill: PS3 Slim footage surfaces

Ultimateplaystation has put up a video of what looks like the rumored PS3 slim. The clip shows something matching the pictures that we’ve seen just before the E3 conference this year, fueling the credibility of these rumors of a smaller, cheaper PS3 being prepared by Sony. So will we see a PS3 slim some time soon? It sure seems to look like this is the case ( and sony never denied the existance of a PS3 slim as far as i’m aware ). Of course this could all be a big joke, so just take a look at the clip yourself  while it’s still up. (Do turn on annotations, they help a lot in this video)
